Passage étroit

J'aime à croire qu'il existe toujours, ce lieu dit du passage étroit, où les rives du fleuve se rapprochent et où il est encore possible de traverser la grande rivière. Laissant derrière nous la rive où s’exercent les pressions géopolitiques et commerciales globalisantes nous rejoindrions sur l'autre bord, une place intime et secrète ou l’être se déploie en amont de l'histoire telle qu'on l’écrit. Cette performance serait donc la pratique d'un passage pour sortir des usages aliénants d'un monde qui nous dépossède et nous empêche d’accéder à nous même.  Sur cette voiture d'eau on s'entend nommer au passage des affluents de Kichisippi, la grande rivière …On entend résonner à nouveau la voix d’individus en lutte contre l’aliénation; des chants et des poèmes célébrant cette immense soif d’être qui nous habite, témoignant de l’intégrité et l’identité profonde de l’être avec le monde ; la voix anonyme des passeurs d'une tradition orale en ressouvenance, à l'unisson avec celles des auteurs contemporains G.Miron,  S.Jacob,  M.Atwood,  L.Cohen,  J.Kerouac, F.Scott, A.Hébert,  P.Perrault, F.Leclerc, G.Vigneault, R.Desjardins

En langue micmaque, Kepe:k qui s'écrit Gepeg en orthographe moderne, signifie là où c'est fermé, bloqué, obstrué. Ce mot micmac sert aussi à désigner le rétrécissement d'un cours d'eau. En d'autres mots, Québec signifie détroit du fleuve Saint-Laurent en face de la ville. En micmac moderne, Gepeg signifie débarquer; par ailleurs, le mode impératif montagnais kepek a le sens de descendez. Certains apportent ces références comme hypothèses pour expliquer l'origine du nom Québec.      Commission de toponymie du Québe

The narrow pass...

I like to believe that there is still a place, called the narrow pass, where the shores of the river are coming closer, and where it would be possible to cross the great river. Leaving behind the grounds where commercial and geopolitical pressures are at play, one would reach on the other side a secret place of being, beyond historical cleavages. This performance will then be the practice of such a passage. On this water vehicle, one will hear echoes of the tributaries of Kichisippi, the great river. The memory of a lost oral tradition is invocated. The voice and ways of the individuals who struggled against alienation, their songs, and poems will resonate again, celebrating the integrity and deep identity between being and the world, Together with: G. Miron, S.Jacob, M.Atwood, L.Cohen,  F.Scott, A.Hébert, J.Kerouac, P.Perrault, F.Leclerc, G.Vigneault, R. Desjardins
